Song 3: Shaman's Call

This song is also a Native American song; however, it evokes rather different feelings. It is still trance-like, but it contains no strong, driving force like that of the drums in song 2. Rather, a flute is the only instrument that can be heard.

This song suggests an inner spiritual call, as the title, "Shaman's Call" indicates. It is inviting and a bit intriguing, but at the same time, somewhat lonely. It definitely suggests individual feelings, which, as previously stated, reflects much of the American spirit. Perhaps the loneliness demonstrates the eventual loneliness and sadness of the Native Americans, forced from their homelands. In its own era, the song would be indicative of a vibrant culture that flourished before Europeans set foot on the American continent. Unfortunately, that culture has largely been hidden away and lost from modern-day America.
